Privacy policy
What we do with the details you give us, in plain English.
Last updated: 7 September 2026
The short version. When you submit our form or call us, we pass your name, phone number, email, town and job description to a small number of independent local contractors so they can quote your job. That sharing is the entire point of the service, and it is the only reason we collect your details. We do not sell your information to data brokers or marketing lists.
Who we are
Bergen Home Services is a home improvement referral service operating in Bergen County, NJ. We are not a contractor and we do not carry out home improvement work. This policy covers this website only. Once your details reach a contractor, that contractor's own privacy practices apply to what they do with them.
What we collect
- Details you give us: your name, phone number, email address if you provide one, the town the property is in, the service you need, and anything you write in the message box.
- Technical data: standard web server information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you viewed. If analytics is enabled on this site, it is used to understand which pages lead to enquiries.
Why we collect it, and who we share it with
We use your details for one purpose: to connect you with contractors who can quote your job. When you submit the form and tick the consent box, we share the details above with up to three independent contractors in our network who cover your town and perform that type of work.
Those contractors pay us a fee for referrals. That is how the service stays free to you. It also means we have a commercial relationship with the contractors we recommend, and you should treat our referral as a starting point rather than an independent endorsement. Always get more than one quote.
We also use service providers who process data on our behalf, such as our web host and the form delivery service that emails us your enquiry. We do not sell your personal information to data brokers, and we do not add you to unrelated marketing lists.
Calls, texts and consent
By submitting the form you are asking contractors to contact you about your enquiry, including by phone call, text message and email at the number and address you gave us. Message and data rates may apply. Consent to be contacted is not a condition of any purchase, and you can withdraw it at any time by telling us or by telling the contractor directly. Reply STOP to any text message to opt out of texts from that sender.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry records for as long as we need them to run the service and to resolve any dispute about a referral, and then we delete them. Ask us and we will tell you what we currently hold about you.
Your choices
You can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can ask us to stop passing your details to contractors. To do any of these, call (201) 555-1234. We may need to verify who you are before we act on the request.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under state privacy law. New Jersey residents have rights under the New Jersey Data Privacy Act, including the right to access, correct, delete and obtain a copy of personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal data. Contact us using the details above to exercise them.
Cookies
This site uses cookies only where needed to make pages work and, if analytics is enabled, to measure which pages generate enquiries. You can block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop the form working.
Children
This site is intended for adults arranging work on a property. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
